Kentucky Democrats are wasting no time making sure Bluegrass State voters know about the violent incident that marred Monday’s Senate debate.
A new ad from the Kentucky Democratic Party titled “The Rand Paul Stomp,” includes video of 23-year-old MoveOn.org activist Lauren Valle being wrestled to the ground by supporters of GOP nominee Rand Paul outside his debate this week with Democrat Jack Conway. The man who is seen stomping on Valle — including hitting her in the head — later identified as Tim Profitt, has since apologized for the incident but could still face criminal charges. The Paul campaign's first statement on the incident was tepid, suggesting "supporters of both sides" could be at fault. Paul later condemned the incident more forcefully, but Conway has said even Paul’s amended statements still do not go far enough.
